Introduction

The Rural Works Department (RWD) is one of the pioneer engineering departments in Arunachal Pradesh. The department was trifurcated into RWD, I&FCD and PHED during 1995 and a year later during 1996, an autonomous organization named as A.P. Energy Development Agency (APEDA) was formed by compiling the works under New and Renewable Sources of Energy (NRSE) and Integrated Rural Energy Programme (IREP) which were earlier taken up by the Rural Works Department and as such the activities of the department had shrunk to the minimum, leaving with the works under the following heads of development.     More >>

About Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh, situated in the north eastern part of India is nearly 83,743 sq. km. in area and lies between north latitudes 260 30' to 290 28' and east longitudes 910 25' to 970 24' and has long international border of 160 km with Bhutan in the west, of 1080 km with China in the north and north east and of 440 km with Myanmar in the east. It stretches from the snow capped mountains in the north to the plains of Brahmaputra valley in the south.
Earlier, the area was known as the North East Frontier Agency, NEFA in short, which was constitutionally a part of the State of Assam. At that time NEFA was directly administered by the President of India through the Governor of Assam as his agent, who was assisted by an Adviser. The office of the Adviser to the Governor of Assam was situated at Shillong, the former capital of the Assam State now the capital of Meghalaya. More>>
